He expressed hope that the business communities, financial institutions, and First Nations communities of both countries will continue to strengthen communication and collaboration, allowing economic and trade cooperation to serve as a vital stabilizer and promoter of bilateral ties, thereby building a broader and firmer social and public opinion foundation for the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of China-Canada relations.

Canadian Senator Yuen Pau Woo and former Canadian Finance Minister Bill Morneau delivered keynote speeches, sharing insights on the current international landscape, the trajectory of bilateral relations, and the opportunities and challenges facing Chinese enterprises operating in Canada. Data shows that the Canadian business community’s confidence in deepening economic and trade cooperation with China is strengthening further: 68 percent of respondents expect Canada-China trade to continue growing over the next two years, and 48 percent view China as an important strategic market for their industry or enterprise.

Organizers noted that the roundtable strengthened ties between the CCCC, Chinese enterprises, and Canadian stakeholders while providing a platform for members to understand the local market and enhance operations. Moving forward, the CCCC will continue acting as a bridge to promote bilateral cooperation, guide enterprises in social responsibility and compliance, and support the stable growth of bilateral trade and investment.

Vancouver — The 2026 Canada-China Economic and Trade Roundtable, hosted by the Canada China Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) and organized by the Bank of China (Canada), was successfully held in Vancouver on September 3, 2026.
